Taking deposits for euthanasias
If you prefer to take a deposit before performing a euthanasia, it is important to keep in mind that creating an invoice for the charges will trigger the "change patient status" action, if you have one set up. If the invoice is created before the date of the appointment, the triggering of the action will result in the appointment being removed from the schedule because the appointment is deemed to be a future appointment.
If you wish to present a formal quote to your client along with taking the deposit, we recommend the following workflow:
1. Create an
estimate for the euthanasia
2. Take a
deposit for the estimate balance
3. On the date of the euthanasia, convert the estimate to an invoice and enter the amounts of the controlled substances actually used (when the estimate is converted on the same day of the appointment, the appointment will remain on the schedule while future appointments would be automatically removed)
The deposit that was collected earlier can then be applied against the newly-created invoice.
