Installing the Label Printer Manager to print prescription labels

The Label Printer Manager is an application that allows printing prescription labels from any device. It replaces Google Cloud Print, which Google is discontinuing on December 31, 2020. The Label Printer Manager needs to be installed on every computer that is connected to a label printer. We recommend installing the latest printer driver before getting started.

The following is the process for downloading and installing the Label Printer Manager

1. Download the Label Printer Manager.  The Label Printer Manager can be found under “Add Ons” in Settings. Click the green plus icon next to the “Printer Label Manager” row, select the operating system, copy the API key (you’ll need this later), and click “Enable” to begin the download.

Enable the add-on

2. Run the installer. After the installer downloads, double-click on the file to begin the installation process.  For Macs, the installer may be ejected once the installation process is done.

At this time Apple has not completed its certification process, so the manager will need to be manually opened by navigating to Applications, right clicking on “Label Print Manager”, and selecting “open.”  Select “open” in the warning window that appears (you may need to do this twice to get the “open” option).
On Windows you may see a warning message pop up. Click on "More Info" and select "Allow" or "Continue" to continue the installation process.

If the installation is blocked due to an installed anti-virus program, you’ll need to create an exception in that program in order to continue to perform the install.

3. Enter API Key in the window that appears.  Copy the API Key that was provided when enabling the add-on, and click “Next.”

Enter the clinic's API key

4. Select the label printer.  Check the box next to the label printers that appear in the list, and click “Share Selected Printers.”

Select the label printers

5. Confirm the connection. If the connection was successful, the label printers selected in the prior step will appear under Settings > Configuration > View Printers.
