Why do I keep getting logged out?

There are two possible reasons causing you to be logged out of your account unexpectedly: (1) another user is using your credentials simultaneously, or (2) your session has been idle for longer than the session timeout setting.

Two users can not use the same login credentials at the same time. This is a safeguard to protect your data, and to accurately track the source of all actions a user executes within the software. Please ensure that you do not share your login credentials with other users. If you believe your Vetter password has been compromised, please immediately reset your credentials.

The "session timeout" configuration is used to automatically log off a staff member after the there has been no activity on that person's account for longer than a specified duration.  This setting ensures the security of your account by automatically logging out individuals after they left for the day (or are taking an extended break), and they forgot to log themselves out.

To change your own password:
  1. Click on your name at the top of the page, and select "reset password"
  2. Complete the form that appears
  3. Click "save"
If you are an administrator (or you have appropriate permissions), you can also reset someone's password. Doing so will send a new temporary password to the staff member.

To reset another staff member's password:
  1. Click on "Settings"
  2. Click on "staff" and select "view staff"
  3. Click on the gear icon for the applicable staff member, and select "reset password"
Resetting staff passwords requires special permission, which is only available by default for administrators. This permission can be expanded by updating the permissions for the applicable role.

To set a"session timeout" for your practice:
  1. Click on "Settings"
  2. Click the "Configuration" tab and select "View Configurations"
  3. Scroll to "Session Timeout" in the alphabetical listing of configurations
  4. Click the "Pencil and Paper" icon on the far right to edit the line item
  5. Edit the dropdown menu to the time duration as desired (ranging from 2 to 12 hours)
  6. Click the "Disk" icon on the far right of the line item to Save the changes
