Relationships allow you to associate patients, clients, and contacts with each other in a variety of ways. By creating relationships, you can track which people and business are associated with the care of your patients. There are several forms of relationships, including owner, foster owner, referral source, primary veterinarian, and specialist veterinarian.

While multiple clients can be assigned as "owners" of a patient, only one client can be the "primary owner." The primary owner's last name will be assigned to that patient, and all billing records will default to that person, except when billing is associated with an appointment. The primary owner will be designated with a star icon when viewing a patient's relationship. The designation can be reassigned by clicking on the gear icon next to the name of a different owner.
